Denim tattoos with a laser can be a more quick and environmentally friendly process for denim washing. Did u know that one pair of jeans takes up to 2,000 gallons of water ?
How did I discover this topic ?
In a workshop at my school we visited the FabLab at Saxion. The Fabrication Laboratory is a place at our school where we can work on the realization of our ideas , for example 3D printing of fabric. But what stood out to me when visiting FabLab were the denim tattoos. This kind of new innovation could be an important step for improving the future of denim production and washing.
What are the advantages of denim lasering ?

Why is this topic so important to me ?
Because of my studies at Saxion, we get to know a lot of different sides of the fashion industry and how polluting it really is. Did you know that the fashion industry is the second most polluting industry in the world ?
So when working with garments and fabrics in general, we always think about the aspect of sustainability and how we can use new technologies and innovations to improve the future of fashion.
Even though I started my studies roughly 2 months ago , I became more and more aware what goes into products and how harmful it really is. Everyone is responsible of their actions and if everyone becomes more aware of what they are buying we can change the world one step at a time !
